The EFS is a series of power controllers for controlling heating cables and electrical radiators.
The EFS is engineered using the latest technology, which provides several benefits such as accurate, noiseless control as well as long life expectancy. The EFS has often proved its value in applications where control of major electrical heating outputs has been required.
The EFS is not only ensuring the precise control of heating surfaces in ventilation and industrial plants but also in ceilings, floors and radiant heating etc. The EFS series has been developed to give our costumers an advantageous combination of high quality, accurate control at any heat requirement and low life cycle costs.
EFS FUNCTIONS |
| |
Easy Installation With the built-in P controller and built-in signal converter, the wiring required to install the EFS has been drastically reduced. All that is required is to connect the load and a temperature sensor, make the settings for the temperature control and then leave it on its own. If an external controller is available it can also be connected directly to the EFS power controller. |
| |
No Electrical Noise Due to the use of Zero transition triggering, there is no electrical noise from the EFS. And as an additional advantage, the mains cables to the EFS can be dimensioned for the current supplied to the heating elements with a very low installation factor. |
| |
Built-in Power Doubling Relay To further decrease the installation hassle, the EFS comes with a built-in relay for doubling the output of the controller. Simply connect 50% of the load to the relay and this load will be turned on, when there is a need for more than 50% heating. |
| |
Heat Sink Built Into Ductwork Due to the flexible design of the EFS, it is possible build the heat sink into the ductwork of the ventilation system, thereby recycling the heat loss from the EFS to the air being heated by the heating elements. A special bracket is available for this purpose. |
| |
No Excesive Temperatures Due to the modulation on the output, which the thyristors of the EFS provide, it is now possible to avoid the excessive temperatures, which are an unavoidable fact, when using solid-state relays. |
| |
Unsymmetrical Loads The EFS-9xx3 has a fully controlled output in all three phases and can sustain that unsymmetrical loads are connected. |
| |
Low Life Cycle Cost With the built-in thermal and transient protection and the modern technology of the EFS, the life expectancy of the power controller is 5 times that of a traditional solid-state relay. |

MOUNTING |
| |
Mounting of the controller The EFS range is mounted on the wall or on panel board. If it is required to mount the EFS on a DIN-rail the bracket EFSA-5 is to be used. By use of bracket EFSA-1 it is furthermore possible to mount the EFS with the heat sink in the duct. It must be ensured that the controller is sufficiently ventilated. |
| |
Mounting of the Control Cable The control cable from external controller can be extended up to 50 m by a separate cable. It must be avoided to place the cable in parallel with other cables. Voltage signals may occur which may interrupt the function of the controller.
It is not always necessary with a shielded cable to the controller, however it improves the immunity of the controller against noise, if it is being used in industrial environment. The shield is connected to terminal 13 (GND). |
